The theme for the 11th International Conference on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice, All Together Better Health (ATBH-11), is ‘Cultivating a Collaborative Culture: Sharing Pearls of Wisdom’. We are now accepting abstract submissions in the following subthemes related to interprofessional education and collaborative practice:

    • SHARING models of best practice
    • INFORMING national, regional, and global policies and standards
    • ADVOCATING for health and wellbeing
    • EMBRACING diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
    • PROMOTING safety in and beyond health services

At ATBH-11, you may present your work and ideas in a variety of formats. Abstracts can include any aspect of interprofessional education and/or collaborative practice. You may submit abstracts in the following categories: workshops, oral presentations, posters, pearls of wisdom lightning talks, and Discovery Majlis. Please complete the abstract submission form online, not exceeding 300 words.

1. Workshops

Workshops are 90-minute sessions, aiming to impart specific skill sets to participants that they can apply in their own settings. The format is a 5-10minute introduction followed by the main interactive component with ample opportunities for audience participation, interaction, and discussion. We welcome co-facilitation.

2. Oral Presentations for research submission

Oral presentations are 10 minutes in duration followed by 5 minutes for questions and answers. Similarly themed sessions will be grouped together and facilitated by a moderator. Your presentation will be included in a 90-minute themed session.

4. Posters

Posters are a useful way to communicate ideas about innovative approaches to IPE and IPP teaching practice and research findings.

5. ATBH-11 Pearls of Wisdom Lightning talk

These lightning talks are 5-minute presentations. This is the ideal place to reach out to others and share an interprofessional story rooted in your experience as a patient, carer, student, educator, or professional. You can challenge perspectives and share your pearl of wisdom!

We encourage creativity and innovation. Simply talk or feel free to convey your idea through performance, music, or demonstration.

6. Discovery Majlis

Feeling frustrated? Do you need help answering a question or solving an IPE or IPP problem? Seek the help of others in the Majlis.

A majlis is a traditional meeting place where people gather to seek advice, discuss issues, and ponder solutions in an informal setting. There will be no projector or screen available.

This is a 30-minute Peer-Assisted Learning Session. Using a 5-minute anecdote, you will set the scene and pose a question, idea, or problem. You will use the remaining 20 minutes to guide a brainstorming session in the hopes of cultivating a potential remedy and 5 minutes to conclude the discussion.

Acceptance Process

All abstracts will be blind reviewed by peers in the scientific committee. Presenters with accepted abstracts will be notified by the date indicated above and should register before the early bird deadline to take advantage of the reduced registration rate, although this is not compulsory. However, to be included in the final program, all abstract presenters with accepted abstracts will need to register no later than Monday 29 May 2023. The conference organizers reserve the right to remove anyone from the conference proceedings and the final program who has not registered by this date.

Please note:

Authors may submit multiple abstracts for any presentation type (workshops, oral presentations, posters, ATBH pearls of wisdom and discovery majlis). Any abstract submitted may be considered by reviewers for a different type of abstract than the one submitted (e.g., you have submitted for an oral presentation but could be accepted as a poster presentation).

Biography:

Professor Asmaa Al-Thani is the Vice President of Medical and Health Sciences, the Director of the Biomedical Research Center (BRC) and a Professor of Virology at the Biomedical Sciences Department, Qatar University.  Professor Althani is also an Adjunct Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.

Professor Al-Thani’s portfolio articulates a record of accomplishments in establishing the academic and research infrastructure for health and medical sciences at Qatar University, pertaining her roles as the Founding Dean of the College of Health Sciences (2016) and the Founding Director of BRC (2014).  Professor Al-Thani has an active role in national landscape of medical research through serving as the Vice Chairperson of the Qatar Biobank Board, Chairperson of the National Qatar Genome Committee and establishing National Reference laboratory-COVID19 Unit.  In addition, she is the founding chair for the Empower Generation Consortium (EGC), which comprises several projects that enhance the national capacities in health and medical sciences.

Professor Al-Thani has a leading research portfolio, with over than 120 published papers in peer-reviewed international journals and around 34 internal and external research grants and 2 patents.  She is a reviewer for several scientific journals and conferences, and currently a member of the American society for Microbiology.

Her accomplishments have been recognized through several awards, including the Astrolabi Award from WCMC-Q (2020), QS- Reimagine Oscar in Education, gold in Life Sciences and the silver in best university-employer relationship for the years 2018-2020.   She also received the State Encouraging Award in the Medical Sciences and Nursing (2017), Sheikh Hummaid Bin Rashid Award for Culture and Sciences (2006), Al-Jasra Cultural Club –Qatar (2008), Qatar University Outstanding Faculty Service Award (2012), the College of Arts and Sciences Research Award (2012) and the Arab Paediatric Medical Research Award (2015).
